There are two ways to set the default applications for files and links, but the easiest way is to go...

(windows XP)

Start%26gt; set programs access and defaults%26gt; custom

from there on, its very simple- just follow the steps.

Try setting internet explorer as your default browser.

If this fails, look in firefox' settings and see if there is anything that makes it the default browser. the version i have asks you unless you tell it not to. make sure it is not set as the default, and re-take the steps in the access and defaults. i hope this resolves your problem.

Outlook should just use your default browser to open links. Be sure you default browser is set to IE. You can open IE and look in the options and you should see something that indicates setting it as the default. If you double-click an HTML file, what browser opens? That's how you can tell for sure what browser is set as your default.
