Trying to remove ie defender. Need help!?

My daughter has had her computer for all of one day and has managed to get ie defender on it! We cannot get rid of it. Spybot finds it but then can't get rid of it. Also the computer will not let her uninstall programs because it says she "does not have administrator rights", yet she is listed as the administrator and is the only user of the computer. HELP needed with both issues. Do we have to wipe it clean anf re-format with Vista?

It's part of windows vista security and you shouldn't remove it. It's a very good anti-spyware program. There's no reason to even have spybot anymore. I would remove that or tell it to ignore defender.

The reason you have Defender because she might've installed without knowing it is a very good anti-spyware program for 'Windows,To remove defender "which is called Windows defender" it is a anti-spyware program which Microsoft has put out. You go to settings click on 'ADD and Remove' if you have windows software, you click on remove it and it should get rid it. you don't need to format it.

It will tell you to restart your computer after you uninstall it.

You are correct, rotational motion does cancel gravity in certain circumstances. This is why Jupiter and Saturn are not perfect spheres, but are instead oblate sheroids, due to their very substantial rotation. well, Some times Internet Explorer blocks the execution of Active X components which seems that will cause any harm to your computer. If I'm not wrong you have the option to allow to execute this ( I think that a menu appears at the right of IE browser ) so just click to allow the execution and then reload the page. I think that this should work.

If you are running Win XP, just click START, Programs, ACCESSORIES, SYSTEM TOOLS, SYSTEM RESTORE. Then when the restore window opens, choose a time BEFORE you upgraded to ver. 7 and follow the prompts.

When it is done, you will be back to what you had before you upgraded.

Sony Vaio notebook & IE problems?

I'm using a Sony Vaio VNG-N130G notebook PC (WinXP Media Center), and when I have too many (5 or so) IE (ver 6.0)browser windows open at any time, my browser craps out - it will change the configuration of my toolbars (I have Google's %26amp; Yahoo's toolbars installed). The only way I can fix this is by restarting my PC. I unfortunately, need to have a lot of windows open simultaneously as part of my duties at work.

Any ideas on what I can do to change (read "fix") this problem? I don't want to have to keep restarting my PC. Since I am not in a large corporate office, there is no tech department to help, so I am hoping someone can help me here!

I had the same problem the only thing there is to do is re-install your IE. If you have websites saved under favorite that you need to keep, just go to my computer, then click on local disc C, then click User, click on what user you use, there should be a folder listed as "Favorites" click on that, select all the files in that folder and copy them then paste them in a folder that you can refer to later. Delete IE and re-install it. Then when it is reinstalled you can put your Favorites that you stored back into the Favorites folder now that you reinstalled IE. After that all you need to do install google and yahoo toolbar if needed, though it shouldn't. A client of mine had the same problem, and the solution was pretty simple, albeit somewhat tedious. If you are using Windows XP, simply installing Service Pack 2 will reinstall Internet Explorer. Even if you already have Service Pack 2 installed, you can install it again and it will install a fresh copy of all the Internet Explorer files, resulting in a clean browser that should have no trouble opening sites. So, any flash page or youtube vid etc. that I try to run in Firefox(any version, it persists no matter what version I have), doesn't have any sound and in case of the videos stops after 2 seconds of loading and nothing happens. Do you have a firewall? Firewalls don't like surprises, tell it IE7 is OK.

How you do that depends on the firewall. If you're logged in as an administrator, most firewalls will pop up so you can tell them what to do.

Try clearing out your Temp and your Cookies, etc. Vista has a lot of weird issues with these folders having weird files in them.

Just go to Tool, Internet Options. Under Browsing History, click on Delete. would hit the Delete All button.

Make sure you have all of your Windows Updates too.

Last thing would be to set IE back to all the defaults, again in the Internet Options area, under the advanced tab.

Also uninstall any toolbars or any other extra stuff that may be using IE.

If nothing works, I would suggest a reinstall of Vista, or install Firefox.

there are various reasons why. first, some hardware is fialing or has incompatibility issues on it. second, some files are corrputed or missing which then you must reinstall it by going to microsoft.com. finally, you can try to reinstall any add-ons since i have a windows xp pro and it freezes whenever there is a page with flash (i reinstalled flash and now it works. :p )

firefox 2 is very stable and is always supported. updates are quick if a vulnerability is found.

Firefox keeps the w3 standards for internet related technologies like css and dhtml. stuff that runs the web basically.

IE doesn't. as a web designer, It always feels like microsoft internet explorer has its own little world where they want everyone to conform to their standards. IE SUCKS.

Firefox's interface is so easy to use and its speed and quality is at the top of the chart.I use Firefox 2 on my mac and it is better than Safari I would say which is substanially better than IE. Firefox is said to be unstable only because it has been a new project and bugs have been found. Although Firefox 2 is the most recent and has worked like a charm for me. I'd defianatly try out Firefox 2.

Stay with IE7. It's what you're comfortable with and you're not going to find anything you like enough in FF to sacrafice for the problems you mentioned. The only thing I recommend is plug-in thing called in-line search or something to that extent. It makes the control + f interface more like FF's which is superior. Once you have that, there's no reason to worry about it.

The reason I like firefox better is that it simply runs faster and more efficient than IE.

IE has always been an inferior web browser in my opinion. A majority of websites have to be modified to look right on IE because IE uses special code for web format.

If you want a faster, safer internet browsing experience, use Firefox. If you want slower access times and pages that don't look how they were intended to look, use IE.

Opera is also a good web browser. It's my second choice to firefox. I don't use it as often because it doesn't have quite the features that I am looking for, but it is fast, clean and secure.

i think it would depend on the flow of customers if you had a large flow of customers so you would have more and mroe stylist then the renting the area may be profitable. but in actuality most salons have like 4 or 5 people working including the owner, you have to think of rent for your building, power, insurances, payroll taxes, workers comp, sales and use tax, and so many other things that you have to pay out of the business profits it is a better choice to do the % because then you will be making more money. think about the math once you figure how many people come in on average and how much it is on average for a hair cut then break that down into precentages and add up what you would be getting and then you will see how it could be if you had 2 or 3 or even 4 stylists.

How do I organize favorites in IE 7.0?

In previous versions of IE, there was a selection on the toolbar to Organize Favorites - where I could add/move/rename folders in my favories. I know how to access the favorites and "pin" them on the side but there isn't an option, as far as I know to 'organize' them easily. I want to be able to move them into folders and I want to move folders that I have w/in other folders out. There doesn't seem to be an easy way to do this as there was with previous IE.

You don't have the Organize Favorites option when you click the star to get Favorites. Click the Add to Favorites button (which is the green + sign on top of the gold star), and then click Organize Favorites, or click Favorites on the menu bar and click Organize Favorites at the top of the Favorites menu. If the menu bar isn't showing press the Alt key on your keyboard and the menu bar will appear with File, Edit, View, Favorites, Tools, and Help. Drag and Drop them in place, there is no organize window. you can create folders by right clicking. Click on the arrow at the upper right hand corner to make the window 'staple' as a frame so you dont have to keep opening it.

Download and install avst, the key is to choose the option 'scan computer when next restart', this should remove ones thats difficult to do .

it all started of with playing yahoo games and IE sent me a error message then it would close everything, so on peoples advice i change to FireFox. it worked fine for a week but the FireFox started sending error reports as well. Most likely you have some sort of virus, spyware on your pc.

Download avg antivirus (free), spyware terminator (free), and

spybot search and distroy (free). Google them.

Start your pc in safe mode (f8 when starting up windows( have to be quick)) Let the programs scan and restart your pc when they are done.

If that doesn't work, reinstall windows from your cd-rom (do not forget to place the drivers cd-rom in after you re?nstall windows)

If you re?nstall windows, make sure you have back ups of the files you want to keep or they will be gone forever.

Yes, you find IE under Windows Components but actually it doesn't remove IE from your computer. It just deletes the icons and the links of it. A bunch of courts asked Microsoft the same question quite some time back. It had wide scale ramifications since Microsoft was bundling IE into the OS and not allowing people to uninstall it. This meant that other companies making browsers (like Netscape) did not have a chance to compete against Microsoft since MS already had a monopoly on the PC market and was thus using that monopoly to push for IE on PCs.

MS gave an interesting reply to this one. They proved that IE was not a standalone application but something that formed part of their OS. They demonstrated that the IE libraries were so intimately used by Windows that removing/deleting them would crash Windows!

First I want to say if you don't have the Firebug extension for Firefox, go get it. Using it, I discovered that the styles you have on the inner table are not getting cascaded down to your %26lt;td%26gt; containing the orange bar. I have a theory as to why that might be. You set the border top and bottom styles using inline styles but you overrode the styles with a class on the %26lt;td%26gt; orange bar. I would break the top and bottom border styles out to a different class. You can then assign two different classes to one object by putting a space between the two classes. Give it a shot.

Lately I saw this problem being caused by corrupt Adobe Flash install. Go into the Add/Remove programs and remove Flash. Then go to Adobe.com and reinstall it. See if this helps.

You dont have to make them all again. After downloading firefox go to file then click on import. It will ask you if you want to import your history, bookmarks etc and just follow the window. Btw favourites on firefox are called bookmarks so thats what you will find them under. Hope this helped!! X

I have to agree with Phil -- but you aren't describing the screens, so it could be something else too. Ad-aware only checks for spyware -- you need to check for viruses too.

AVG is a good free one, as is symantec -- and I think (but am not sure) that both have an online version that will scan you remotely. You may want to try that. It may not be a registry thing, but a virus and you may get lucky.

I tried creating a pop3 mail account with outlook 2007. I have a yahoo.ie mail address. When ever i provide the details in the configuration time, outlook is asking for username and password with a server id shown on top and the popup box's heading is Enter Network Password. i tried all the way and the error message that i get is "cannot log in to yahoo.ie server; the e mail server rejected logon.(0x800ccc92)".

The interesting thing is that I can view that page in both IE7, Firefox and Safari without problems. I believe your issue might be with your permissions. Make sure that:

1. Javascript is enabled

2. Your adblocking software isn't blocking the freewebs domain

3. You do not have any scripts (e.g. Scriptmonkey) that are preventing you from viewing a freewebs page.

Check your Internet Options in your control panel. Make sure none of the settings are on High.

I have the same problem with my Vista computer. Apparently Internet Explorer 7 isn't completely bug-free yet when being used on Windows Vista. The only thing you can do for now is wait for microsoft to release a patch for the problem (If they ever do), or you could just use another web browser instead of IE. I use Firefox on my Vista computer and it seems to work fine.

Wow, most schools now a days are converting to Firefox, because it is so much better than IE. At my school All PCs have Firefox and IE and we can install programs on the computers, but they are wiped out when the system resets at midnight. My school has that to. You can't go on half the websites in the W.W.W.! Most of the sites that you are allowed to go on-need something to be downloaded. The problem is that the website you need to go to download the software is blocked! And you can't download it anyways!

There's really no simple solution. I've also run into sites that simply won't load properly without IE.

You might try setting up a Virtual Machine. VirtualBox is a pretty good one, and I believe it should also run on a Mac. You could install WinXP on it, and it has the option to have an expandable virtual hard disk, so it would take up much less memory then running a parallel OS.

Microsoft stopped developing IE for Mac at about Version 5.0 so that is all there is. I use Firefox for OS X and don't have any problems with it even on banking sites. There are some apps that allow you to spoof IE only sites to letting your non IE browser on to them, otherwise go and tell the web admin because it is their really crappy web design skills that created the problem in the first place.

My wife said her biggest frustration with IE 7 is that when a web page takes a long time to load, there is no spinning "e" symbol in the upper right corner of the window to let you know that IE is still working. I've looked through the menu's, including toolbar menu's, but cannot find a way to display it.

Did Microsoft leave this feature out of IE 7, or am I just missing something?

If you notice in IE 7 when a page is loading on the tab it has the spinning circle rather than the "twirly e" it is quite a nice touch =)
It is now on the tab. The rotating symbol is replaced by an icon when the page has loaded. They copied Firefox which has both.
They took it out, but when you load a page, in the tab bar it has a twirling circle, and there's still the progress bar.
Nope, Microsoft eliminated the "Throbber" from Internet Explorer 7.

Now each tab has its own spinning circle, so that you know if a tab has finished loading.

You can only remove the icon. It is intertwined with the operating system. It is also needed for Window's Updates. It is not "just a browser". It can't be removed and you will not find it in add/delete programs.

BTW: I also use Firefox. It has an add on that will use the IE engine within a Firefox tab when required.
You really shouldn't, you don;t have to use it, but it should not be totally removed as it is part of windows. Besides it doesn't take up any room.
You should Reinstall Internet Explorer 6... or at least make that attempt. You see IE is a part of Windows... and you can't get rid of it. Use FireFox for (not a movie of a similar name) general browsing, but use IE for Windows updates and other special ASP based websites that simply won't display active x without it.

Visit the Microsoft website for the most recent IE6, but avoid IE7.

if you want upgrade to Windows XP I suggest you go to microsoft web site and check for Upgrade Wizard, %26lt;which scan you computer and will tell you what you need.
It should be compatible. Maybe your current version is acting weired if you have addons installed. Personally I would rekon FireFox ;)

You cant delete the index cookie. It's responsible for helping with all the other cookies. It has hidden attributes that wont allow it to be deleted. When deleting the cookies in that folder, highlight the index cookie and then hit "edit" at the top of the page, then hit "invert all". It will then remove the highlight from the index cookies and highlight all of the other cookies instead. Then hit "file" at the top of the page and then hit "delete" and you're all done. OK, here's a fun one.

About 1 week ago, my dial-up connection slowed to a crawl. I was using FF 1.5, on a local ISP with a web accelerator add-on. I dug around the forums for ideas, and saw a new version of FF, and installed it.

After i installed FF 2.0, I could not load ANYTHING, got "timed out" and "server not found" messages.

TB 1.5 will not send nor receive e-mail.

I tried IE, same thing a happened, time out, server not found.

Called ISP, they said maybe FF 2.0 and they're connection or web accel program "don't get along" so i went back to ff 1.5 and removed my web accelerator program completely.

Now, with ff 1.5 it is still VERY SLOW, and TB will STILL not receive email when i dial in with my ISP.

Here's the F-ed up part.

I tried a DIFFERENT ISP dial up, and it works GREAT! decent load time, send and receive e-mails and it NEVER times out or can't find the server. I was on line for HOURS, and NEVER had a problem.

what is going on???? I've had my ISP for 5 years with no problems, then suddenly "poof" this happens.

my ISP says they're "stumped" and i was hoping to get some idea for here, because I've talked to 4 different people at my ISP and NOTHING we've Tried works. Cleared the cache %26amp; and cookies and sock. Totally uninstalled and reinstalled IE and FF, and TB.

NAV, Spybot %26amp; Ad-Aware come up clean, both on standard load, and safe mode.

WIN2K, fully updated.

No "screwy" software, widgets, file sharing etc.

No on line gaming.

No firewall, hardware or software.

i am sure problem is some of FF 2.0 file will steel remain in registry so you don`t surf website properly, there are no problem in IE or any web browser, so firt take your back up, and properly format C drive(where your operating system is installed), and install again your OS, or use some registry cleaner - your problem is solve

While i disagree with the other posters about IE7 (come on, it's not that bad, and it's a big improvement!), it looks as though you've got a pirated version of windows. Not that much you can do unless you fork out for a genuine version.

i think its still a pain. some old javascripts dont work... it takes forever to load... i work with apps that open a lot of popups and the perfomance is pathetic to say the least. the tabs open much slower than on firefox, and the browsing is not as fast either. only reason i am sticking with is my clients coz they've moved on.

in terms of functionality i think its cool. the security is better, the tabs are nice. it looks much sleeker but the new layout takes a bit of getting used to. a lot of the "new" IE features have been present in other browsers for a long time and if you been using these other browsers.... IE7 is not so WOW!

Its better on security, but a HUGE change in layout. It has more features like tabs. Depends if you like change. If you don't mind it, go for it.

It is pretty good, there are some nice features like the ability to manage multiple tabs/windows. Also the status bar is more explicit about what exactly is going on when you're waiting for a page to load. But there are some annoyances, like things haqve moved. For example "Find on this page" and "History" are in totally wierd places, and you lose your File menus by default.

IE7 made my 2 desktops and 3 laptops crawl. after uninstalling got a big difference. not so user friendly. you can try downloading it and compare the difference with what you currently have. good luck!
If they kept the layout and just resolved the issues with IE6 then I would of been happy. It's a bit of a change and I couldn't be bothered as it seemed a bit long winded to me. I uninstalled it and went back to using IE6 and Firefox.

You don't have to use I.E. if you don't want to. It does come with Windows, but you can choose your browser. The best way to stop Internet Explorer is to disable it by clicking on STart, Settings, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, and when the list loads, on the left, click on Add./Remove Windows Components. When that list loads, find Internet Explorer and remove the checkmark by it. Close the control panel and restart the computer so the change will be reflected in the settings and I.E. will bother you no more. If you ever want it back, just reverse the steps above.

It seems that you IE has become corrupted you should go the control panel and click add remove program where on the left side in the middle you will see a message in which it will be written as add remove windows components. The restart you computer and start IE again. I'm building a website for one of my classes. The campus computers have yet to upgrade Internet Explorer. I coded the CSS and a sample page and previewed it on the campus computers, and everything lined up perfectly. However, when I previewed it again on my laptop, which has the new IE, the header art overlapped with the div center section. I read a bit that said IE 7.0 changed the way it rendered CSS, so I'm almost positive this is the problem. Is there a way I can make it work well in both versions?

You're most likely to achieve cross-browser compatibility if you stick with standards-compliant xhtml and css. You also need to test your page(s) on the major browsers throughout the development cycle.

I'd suggest downloading Firefox, and get the Firebug extension. I find it best to develop my xhtml/css for Firefox, and then adjust as necessary for IE6/7 quirks. The Firebug extension makes it easy to debug and fix issues.

For some unknown reason the New Mail doesn't recognize categories nor will they send them.

Switch back to Classic and your categories will be sent as usual.

This guide shows you how to increase Internet Explorer 7’s connection limit from 2 to 16 which increases the speed of many web pages.

What Are Connections?

When you connect to a website your computer establishes connections with the web server(s). One connection might be a graphics server, another connection may be an ad server and so on. Once the connection has received what it asked for it is disconnected and used for something else.

By default IE7 is set to only be able to open 2 or 4 connections at a time. If you have broadband and you use tabs in IE7 or you visit sites that use lots of connections this tweak will increase the speed of IE7 a little.

You might be wondering “Why don’t they just set IE7 to use 16 connections by default instead of 2?” If everyone who uses IE would use 16 connections it would slow down the internet. The low number of connections set by default is like a throttle being held back so the internet doesn’t slow down and to keep web servers from getting bogged down from many connections by only a few users.

Firefox does nothing to prevent IE from working. (That's more the the kind of thing Microsoft has a reputation for doing, and certainly has done in the past!)

In fact, I often run both of them simultanenously for different web sites, and there's no problem.

it is something else, firefox does not interfere with IE, if you accidently made Firefix your default and would rather have IR, go to tools, internet options, programs, and reset web settings, it make IE the default browser again
I use both in my machine. You may want to check the default browser settings.
I assume you're using Windows. If so, click your Start button. Click "Set Program Access and Defaults." Click the down arrows on the "Custom" row. Under "web browser" make sure there's a check mark in "Enable Access to this Program" next to Internet Explorer.

For the record, Internet Explorer has a lot of security vulnerabilities and I don't recommend using it unless you absolutely have to.

(In fact, I recommend not using Microsoft for the same reason unless you do a lot of gaming, don't have enough techy friends who can help you run Linux, or don't have enough money to buy a MAC.)

I've tried to restore the system (using XP) and it restored back to a previous date when I didn't have the issue, but when I logged out and logged back in and it reverts back to the problem where I can't use the address field of my IE window. Wow, that is rather strange. Though first approach the simple solution.

Is it IE thats the problem or merely your keyboard? Is it only the main enter key on the keyboard or does the one on the numpad work? I normally wouldn't ask this, but you didn't use the Enter key in your paragraph once, so I have no clue if its solely the IE address line or your keyboard itself. If not, explain further with more detail and I'll give it another shot.

This behavior may occur because of Spyware that may resides in your computer. I would suggest you to run a complete spyware scan.
