Firefox has always worked now all of a sudden it's not working? At first i thought connection was down but i opened IE and it works fine. i tried re-installing but still Unable to connect
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at profile.myspace.com.
* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
moments.
* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.
* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.
Firefox not working, but IE is?windows 98
Yeah, firefox always has problems with myspace!! It never loads the profiles correctly.
Firefox not working, but IE is?microsoft support internet explorer
well, you might want to take a look into that last one, about the firewall.....
yeah prob. the firewall.
i dont have firefox
so im not quite sure
If Firefox can connect to other sties just fine then the error you're getting is coming from the Myspace servers and it's just coincidence. An error like that cannot be related to the browser's rendering of the page. If it persists and is happening constantly then something may be wrong, but that would be very strange. Contact me directly if you need to.
You have probably updated to XP Service pack 2, right?
Or does the problem exist with all sites?
I assume the update and that all sites are effected.
The in build firewall lets IE out but no other program.
Change settings in the firewall so that FFox also gets permission
to go on-line.
Else: get an easier to handle firewall (e. g. zone alarm free )
install that and after that deactivate XP鈥瞫 own firewall.
Now start Your browsers and other internet programs.
Zone Alarm will prompt You for every new program that wants to go to Internet. Allow Firefox.exe, Your e-mail program etc.
If You use another firewall then XP's own? It is also a wrong firewall setting that prevents Firefox to go on-line.
I have an anti-virus program enabled with a firewall, and I experienced the same problem when I first got Firefox. Have you gotten any new anti-virus software recently? If so, modify its allowed programs in its firewall settings to allow Firefox to connect to the internet. Every time Firefox undergoes a major update (for example, v. 1.5 to 2.0) you will have to re-allow Firefox. That is what I have been doing, and I have no problems since.
If you have Norton, this can be achieved by opening the Norton Protection Center, selecting the Norton Internet Security tab, and then selecting Settings, Firewall, and Configure. Follow on-screen instructions on how to configure your firewall to allow programs to access the internet. Hope this helps!
